Lachung is a prominent hill station in the North Sikkim district, and also a great travel destination. This Buddhist monastery is one of the most picturesque monasteries in Sikkim. Situated at a hill-top across the valley, it is at a distance of about 30 minutes walk from the town.the mesmerising backdrop of snow-clad mountains of the Himalayas is what attracts the tourists besides religious importance.
The Singhba Rhododendron Sanctuary is located on the bank of Yumthang River at 15000 ft Yumthang Valley and is visited by thousands of tourists every year, especially during April and early May when the flowers are in full bloom. Various species of rhododendron trees and other flora including gentinans, saxifrags, primulas, juniper, maple, poppies etc and animals like blood pheasants, civet, tigers etc are found here.
Lichen is another tourist town in the same district which is rapidly emerging as a great point of attraction and a significant part in Sikkim tourism. If you take the Lachen Road from Lachung, it usually takes about 2 hours to reach there.
About 3 and half hours driving distance from Lachung, Zero Point is visited by numerous travellers every year. Elevated at 15000 ft, the place is also known as Yume Samdong. This is the point where the motorable road ends, thus the location got the name as Zero Point.
